RenewSys India has inaugurated a 3GW solar module manufacturing plant in Khopoli, Maharashtra, marking a major step forward in India’s domestic solar manufacturing push.
The new plant strengthens the company’s position in the solar module manufacturing space and supports the country’s growing clean energy ambitions.
The state-of-the-art facility spans over 7 lakh square feet and features advanced automation and AI-driven processes designed to improve efficiency and product quality. With this launch, RenewSys India’s total solar module production capacity increases significantly to around 5.6 GW, reinforcing its role as a key player in India’s solar manufacturing sector.

The company said the location offers strong logistical advantages, enabling faster distribution across domestic and international markets. The facility is expected to boost supply chain reliability and reduce dependence on imports, aligning with India’s broader push for self-reliance in renewable energy.
This 3GW solar module manufacturing facility also reflects RenewSys India’s long-term expansion strategy. The company is targeting an overall capacity of nearly 24 GW by FY 2026–27, alongside plans to scale up its solar cell production to 4.5 GW.
With demand for solar energy rising across industries and utilities, the new plant is likely to support faster project execution and improve access to high-quality modules. The move comes at a time when India is accelerating its transition toward clean energy and increasing its focus on domestic manufacturing capabilities.
