India Plans Drone, Geo-Spatial and Data Forces in 2047 Defense Plan

India is preparing a long-term strategy to strengthen national security by building new technology-focused defense units, including Drone, Geo-Spatial and Data Forces, as part of a roadmap aimed at 2047.

The initiative reflects a shift toward modern warfare, where data, intelligence systems, and autonomous technologies play a central role in protecting national interests. The plan proposes the creation of a dedicated Drone Force that will handle surveillance, border monitoring, and targeted operations using unmanned systems.

Military planners believe drones will become a key asset in future conflicts, allowing armed forces to respond quickly while reducing risks to personnel. The development of a specialized drone unit is expected to strengthen India’s ability to monitor large and sensitive areas in real time.

Alongside this, authorities are considering a Geo-Spatial Force that will focus on advanced mapping, satellite imagery, and terrain intelligence. This unit will support military operations by delivering accurate geospatial data that helps track threats, guide missions, and improve battlefield awareness.

The strategy also calls for building a Data Force, a specialized group that will analyze massive volumes of defense data. With the growing role of artificial intelligence and digital systems in warfare, this unit will process information from sensors, satellites, and surveillance platforms to support faster decision-making across the armed forces.

Another major proposal is the formation of a Cognitive Warfare Action Force. This team will focus on information and psychological warfare, including countering propaganda, monitoring digital threats, and influencing strategic narratives during conflicts.

Officials say the push toward Drone, Geo-Spatial and Data Forces is part of a three-phase roadmap designed to address emerging security challenges and ensure technological superiority. By 2047, India aims to build a defense ecosystem that relies heavily on advanced technology, data intelligence, and next-generation warfare capabilities.
