BEML Ltd. is a large public sector company involved in close association and under the Ministry of Defence that has commenced an ambitious Greenfield Rail Manufacturing at Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh.
The foundation stone was laid on 10 th August, 2025, and the project promises to propel India to be more self-sufficient in manufacturing its own defence and railway materiel to fulfill the vision of “Make in India” and “Aatmanirbhar Bharat”.
Spread over 529 acres, the new plant will concentrate on the production of advanced defence equipment and rails components such as metro and train coaches as well as military vehicles to even some aerospace parts.

It is estimated to generate more than 2,000 both direct and indirect employment opportunities that will provide a massive boost to the local economy. Modern technology will be employed in the plant to manufacture premium products and the plant will also aim at being environmental friendly in a bid to maintain its footprint at a minimal level.
The launch event saw big names like Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and top BEML leaders. The Chief Minister said the project could turn Khajuraho into a bustling industrial hub, while BEML’s Chairman stressed how it fits into India’s push for self-reliance. With around ₹1,000 crore being invested, this new factory is a big step for BEML and will help make India a stronger player in global manufacturing, all while driving innovation and growth at home.
