Established in 2017, Pyrotask Energy began production in 2019, and has never looked back since. Over the years, the company has recycled over 6000 MT of plastic waste from its facility situated in Khopoli. Navigating the critical challenges of the lacking homogeneity of plastic waste, and material inconsistency, the company resiliently undertook the arduous task of separating polyolefins from other materials.
With the idea of utilizing municipal solid segregated plastic waste, the problem incremented significantly. However, the firm, through trial and error, identified vendors and waste sources that fit its production method. Getting the right kind of raw material input, and utilization of the correct preprocessing, processing, and post-processing methods, the firm developed expertise in utilizing plastic waste. Through continuous improvement, it developed the right procedure for achieving consistent product quality, bound by the client-required specifications.

With a state-of-the-art plant which can process up to 8 MT of plastic waste every day, the firm assures a 70 percent conversion ratio, which results in the manufacture of top-quality pyrolysis oil.
“Our systems are currently semi automated operations. However, our process monitoring is key to our efficiency. Without compromising on cost, we have installed the most reliable and accurate instrumentation devices available in the market. Our safety systems are also constantly being upgraded to prevent accidents”, adds Abhinav.
The company implements a unique pyrolysis method, which refers to a thermal cracking of material in the absence of oxygen, giving rise to smaller molecules. Through this process, it breaks long chain polymers of plastic into multiple smaller carbon chains which can be as small as a single atom, or as big as 40 carbon atoms.

With the implementation of this process, and breaking down plastic, the company achieves three kinds of products including flammable gas, carbonaceous residue, and liquid, high calorific value fuel. It is this fuel that plays an important role for various industries, becoming a recycled source of energy.
