India is the world’s largest milk producer, yet a significant number of dairy farmers struggle to meet the nutritional needs of their livestock due to outdated feeding practices and shrinking grazing lands. With conventional modes of feeding failing to sustain the increased dietary needs coupled with limited farmlands posing a threat to the supply of fodder, the livestock industry is currently at a vital crossroad. Although there are numerous feeding choices, the ones that really consider the long-term health and sustainability of animal production are limited.
Filling this huge gap is Nectar Origin, which is a 2016-established Bihar based company with a renewed vision to set benchmarks in cattle nutrition deliverability. Its strategy is not limited to the traditional pattern of feed production but to the R&D based, field-tested, and naturally balanced formulas. “We believe in science, sustainability and rural empowerment thus not only providing products but a philosophy of responsible dairy farming that empowers farmers on a grassroot level”, says Durgesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Nectar Origin.
At the heart of this commitment is Manka, Nectar Origin’s flagship cattle feed brand. What differentiates the company from others is a three-step thorough testing facility, which includes formulation by trained nutritionists, laboratory proofing and practical testing on the company-owned dairy farm that houses more than 50 animals. This indicates that each of these formulas needs to nutritionally correct as well as practically effective to improve digestion, temperament, and milk yield before they reach a customer.
The Manka line, including variants like Manka Poshak, Manka Dhenu, and Manka Dhenu Pro, is crafted to meet the diverse needs of milking animals across lactation stages. With over 18–25 percent protein content, easy digestibility, and hygienic storage, these feeds support milk yield, reproductive health, and immunity, backed by scientific formulation and rigorous quality control.
Delivering Certified Nutrition with Care
Adding to its capability is its production capacity, which is 200 metric tons per day. Further to add, it distributes its products throughout Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and all over the Northeast. All its products are BIS and ISO-certified. The company also ensures that the additives such as urea are kept much below the regulations, which is 0.2 to 0.5 percent, although BIS regulations permit up to 1 percent. This meticulous approach has helped the brand gain recognition under Startup India initiative and the prestigious ZED (Zero Effect, Zero Defect) certification.
Adding to this, farmer education is also an important concern to Nectar Origin. The company through monthly veterinary seminars, field visits and awareness campaigns empower both, the commercial and small-scale farmers to make informed decisions regarding the health of livestock. Such interactions not only develop trust but also generate a feedback system to enable the company to keep on improving its offerings considering real-life problems and consequences.

Creating Value at Every Step
To further its innovation, the company came up with Gosary, another side venture that transforms cow dung in its farms to incense products such as sambrani cups and dhoop sticks. Though not the main business, this initiative promotes rural entrepreneurship, adds value to dairy by-products, and aligns with the company’s goal of maximizing returns for farmers beyond just milk production.
Going forward, the company aims to build on mineral mix, vitamins, and veterinary medicines by the year 2026, thus becoming a full-fledged cattle-care brand. With expansion plans underway in Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal, Nectar Origin is steadily extending its impact while remaining deeply committed to science, ethics, and the people it serves. “In a market often tempted by shortcuts, Nectar Origin takes the longer, more meaningful route, one that builds stronger animals, more confident farmers, and a healthier agricultural future for all”, concludes Durgesh.
