Silmax Opens New Precision Tool Manufacturing Facility in Bengaluru

Global cutting‑tool specialist Silmax has officially opened a new manufacturing facility in Devanahalli, Bengaluru, marking a major leap in its production footprint.

The 10,000 sq ft plant—of which 5,000 sq ft is already operational—is set to deliver high‑precision cutting tool solutions that meet international standards of performance and accuracy. With a monthly output capacity of 4,000–5,000 tools, the facility will accelerate Silmax’s ability to serve both India and the broader Asia‑Pacific region with improved turnaround times.

This expansion aligns directly with India’s rapidly growing aerospace and advanced‑manufacturing sectors. Silmax’s Bengaluru facility reinforces the company’s global strategy by anchoring production closer to mission‑critical customers.

With our Devanahalli facility now operational, we can respond faster, customise solutions locally, and keep mission‑critical tooling closer to the production floor,” said Dr Dario Maria Fumagalli, President & CEO of Silmax.

Currently employing 25 professionals in India, Silmax plans to add another 50 team members over the next three years. Founded in 1819 in Italy, Silmax has grown into a global group with manufacturing facilities in Italy, Switzerland, China and now India. The company offers a wide range of milling and drilling tools—including micro tools and specialised HSS and HM tools—backed by in‑house grinding, coating and surface‑treatment capabilities. With annual production exceeding two million tools—around half of which are custom‑designed—the new Bengaluru facility will serve as a critical hub for expanding production capacity, improving market access and diversifying Silmax’s product portfolio worldwide.
