Aptiv PLC, a global technology leader in mobility solutions, has opened a Software, Advanced Safety & User Experience (AS&UX) Technical Center in Chennai. This is a major milestone in Aptiv’s plan to grow its engineering footprint and enhance product development capabilities in technologically advanced and high-quality development for the automotive industry in India.
The newly designated space is over 34,000 square feet and has the ability to support a capacity of up to 500 engineers in 2026. The facility is fully outfitted with some of the latest labs and testing environments to further enhance the speed, quality, and development of products in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and safety critical automotive systems.
Senior executives from Mahindra & Mahindra and Aptiv attended the opening ceremony. Among them were R Velusamy, Managing Director of Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd. and President (Designate) of Mahindra's Automotive Division, and Javed Khan, Executive Vice President and President of AS&UX at Aptiv.
“Our expansion in Chennai reflects our commitment to India’s strong engineering capabilities,” said Javed Khan. “This center will enable us to adapt advanced safety technologies and in-cabin systems to local market needs, while maintaining global standards of performance and safety.”

Aptiv is reaffirming its long-term commitment to supporting domestic automakers with the opening of its fourth technical center in India. Advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS), interior monitoring technologies, and entertainment platforms designed for software-defined vehicles will also be developed at the new location. Additionally, it will support the business's worldwide cloud-based architecture and make use of the tools and systems made available by Aptiv and Wind River's partnership.
