Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a leading defence PSU of the Ministry of Defence and a strategic state enterprise of the Government of India with an excruciating desire and vision of self-reliance in the field of defence production and electronics has signed an epoch making Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with VVDN Technologies, a leading global player in the field of electronics engineering and manufacture of products. This joint venture holds the promise to build up the domestic manufacturing environment in India and enhance domestic technology in the defence and professional electronics sectors.
The partnership is on the new technologies field and will allow the two companies to share in the design and manufacturing of new sophisticated technologies like Wi-Fi, 5G-based networking subsystems, radar solutions, marine electronics as well as software-defined communications solutions. These solutions will serve the defence and railways, but other strategically important sectors as well.
“The collaboration will significantly contribute to India’s vision of achieving self-reliance in Defence and professional electronics,” the companies stated.
The MoU was signed between Manoj Jain, CMD, BEL and Vivek Bansal, CoFounder and President, VVDN Technologies. Both organizations had leading representatives in the ceremony and they included Santosh Kumar Chauhan (VVDN), Puneet Aggarwal (VVDN) and Prahalad PS (BEL).
It is believed that such an industry-aligned collaboration will facilitate innovation, help speed up the indigenous development and aid the greater goal of India to cut down its dependence on imports in the strategic technology areas. Considering the history of BEL in electronics used in defence and the experience offered by VVDN to develop end-to-end products, the partnership is one of the most crucial steps to an independent India in terms of technology.
