Godrej Enterprises Group aerospace business has achieved a major breakthrough in the aerospace manufacturing sector in India by establishing a business contract with aircraft engine giant Pratt and Whitney. The deal is an important stride in the capabilities of Godrej in terms of state of art technologies and aircraft engine production volumes.
The contract helps support the goal set by Godrej to prove to be a core supplier to the world's airline engine Original Equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and is directly linked to the dream of a larger India becoming a high-value member in the global aerospace supply chain.
Aerospace-RTX (formerly Pratt & Whitney) is a division of RTX specializing in aircraft engines and auxiliary power units; the firm also provides design, engineering and integrated solutions. The partnership with Godrej is likely to enhance the local supply capacity besides intensifying the involvement of India in major aerospace platforms.
In India Godrej has now approximately 35000 square meters of in-house aerospace manufacturing capacity and it is in the process of developing another 48,500 square meters capacity which is indicative of Godrej wanting to develop indigenous capabilities over the long-term in areas of precision aerospace manufacturing.
