In a significant move that will reshape India's clean energy landscape, the Andhra Pradesh government has unveiled a bold plan to construct the largest green hydrogen ecosystem in Amaravati.
The announcement followed a two-day Green Hydrogen Summit in the state capital, solidifying Andhra as a national leader in energy revolution and sustainable energy innovation.
The state presented its Amaravati Declaration, which includes a comprehensive roadmap to develop Amaravati into a fully integrated Green Hydrogen Valley by 2030 along with ambitious plans to produce up to 1.5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2029, enabled by a massive renewable energy corridor with 25 GW of renewable energy capacity.
To support this level of development, the Andhra government has made firm commitments to build 2 GW of electrolyser manufacturing capacity by 2027, increasing to 5 GW by 2029. The electrolyser and green hydrogen production, will be generating a strong value chain from manufacturing all the way to end-use applications across the transport, industry, and energy sectors.

Strategic partnerships with global technology firms, research institutes, and private investors will spur innovation, R&D, and workforce development. Over 750,000 jobs will be created in Amaravati’s green hydrogen hub, which will also attract multi-billion-dollar investments in hydrogen and ammonia production.
With unambiguous timelines, policy support, and a complete ecosystem approach, Andhra Pradesh is on the brink of becoming the focus of a green hydrogen revolution, providing scalable solutions to decarbonization and energy security.
