The collaboration, which was revealed at the Indo-German Workshop in New Delhi, unites Fraunhofer, Europe's top microelectronics research and development organization, with the EPIC Foundation, which was established by Dr. Ajai Chowdhry and Arjun Malhotra of HCL.
This partnership will make it possible to share technology in crucial areas that are essential to India's semiconductor objectives, such as sensors, MEMS, opto-electronics, CMOS design, and packaging. In order to close the gap between academics and industry, it also seeks to support industry-sponsored research and create innovation clusters. Dr Ajai Chowdhry, Chairman, EPIC Foundation, said: “To power the next wave of growth in the domestic ESDM sector in this techade, it is crucial that we focus on R&D and next-generation tech innovation. We are confident that our collaborative efforts will propel India’s electronics industry towards global leadership and strategic autonomy.”
In order to develop a plan for improved R&D, innovation, and manufacturing, the collaboration will analyze India's ESDM environment. Building competent people in line with international standards is a major objective. Anandi Iyer, Director, Fraunhofer India, said: “India presents enormous potential for cooperative R&D and technological leadership. Our goal is to jointly develop technological excellence and a robust talent pool that supports India’s goals.”
