Production of coal increased in the last 15 days in coal-producing states after unprecedented rains in early October, the government said on Oct 31. The total production of coal from all sources in the last 15 days is more than 26.40 lakh tonnes per day. “The country's coal production showed a 12.81 percent increase in this economic period (until 28.10.23) compared to the same period last year, “the coal ministry said in a statement.
The total supply of dry fuel increased by 11.70 percent, and the supply of the energy sector by 7.87 percent compared to the same period last year. The earlier declining trend of coal stocks of coal-fired power plants has now registered an upward trend in the last 10 days, suggesting that the supply and receipt of coal by thermal power plants is more than consumption. In general, shares of thermal power plants, including state-owned and state-owned power generation companies, are increasing.
