On 30 March 2025, Adani Green Energy Limited has informed that the functionalization of 480 MW solar and wind energy capacity at Khavda in Gujarat, with six plants, has happened.
This is part of the company's idea to build the largest multi-source power plant at one single point, aiming for a capacity of 30GW by 2029. Through this site-wise installation, Adani Green aims to reach a cumulative capacity of 50 GW by 2030 in India.
The installation of about 5 GW capacity at Khavda has been going on since the project started in April 2023 in this open area in Kutch, covering an area of 1,32,943 acres (53,800 hectares)-about the size of Bombay or five times the area of Paris.
The project will consist of 26 GW of solar energy with 60 million solar modules and 4 GW of wind energy from 770 wind turbines. The project will create 15,200 green jobs and will produce 87.4 billion units of clean electricity to be used in Switzerland or Belgium.
The company stated, "With commissioning of these plants, AGEL’s total operational renewable generation capacity has increased to 14,217.9 MW, [capacity including at Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan locations."
The officials said, "The entire Adani ecosystem is helping in the timely execution of this project despite severe challenges faced in the desolate terrain of Khavda, which experiences severe climatic conditions and is devoid of habitation and basic infrastructure."
They also added, "While Adani New Industries Ltd is manufacturing wind turbines and solar wafers, the transmission network is being laid by Adani Energy Solutions. Logistical solutions are being provided by Adani Ports & SEZ while cement and concrete is supplied by ACC and Ambuja Cement, both group entities. Adani infrastructure is exciting the project."
