India’s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is going to be the major contributor in the subsequent phase of the India-Russia defence partnership as a Russian technical delegation acknowledged HAL’s ability to fabricate the Su-57E stealth fighter of the fifth generation in large quantities.
The joint assessment by the Sukhoi Design Bureau and various top Russian defence research organizations realized that HAL has about half of the facilities needed for the production of the Su-57E locally in India.
The evaluation team had a look at HAL’s manufacturing facilities in Bengaluru, Nashik, and Koraput in September, where they checked the production capacity, technical preparedness, and skill level of the workforce.
After assessment of HAL’s capability with the environment of the licensed production of Su-30MKI fighters, it is believed that HAL can produce 505 Su-57E fighters domestically in India.

India is suggested to have been offered by Russia full technological transfer along with the most crucial source codes, according to which India will take a major step towards locally manufactured fighter jets. The results were handed over in early December and at that time, Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to be in New Delhi for the announcement of the production agreement.
HAL is already working on an internal detailed plan that emphasizes layered investment in advanced composites, radar absorbing materials, digital simulation, and the next generation engine testing.
The defence analysts see this as a monumental occurrence that will expedite India’s aerospace goals, increase the Indian Air Force’s capabilities, and be in synergy with the indigenous AMCA fifth-generation fighter program of India.
