Andhra Pradesh is quickly growing as a major location for solar module and cell plants that are challenging the long-established hubs of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. Jupiter Renewables, affiliated with Jupiter International of Kolkata, has decided to invest Rs 2,700 crore to build a 4.8 GW solar PV cell plant and a 1.5 GW module manufacturing facility in Rambilli, Anakapalli district. The factory will make Andhra Pradesh the home to three major solar manufacturing facilities, pointing to its rise in the renewable energy area.
The project will take place in two stages. First, Phase-1 with an investment of Rs 1,504 crore for 2.4 GW solar PV cell and 1.5 GW module production is set to be completed and launched by March 2026. The second phase which will cost Rs 1,196 crore to build a new solar plant, is projected for completion in July 2026. Over 2,200 people will find jobs through the new initiative.
