Seiko Epson Corporation is growing its presence in India by establishing a local manufacturing facility for ink-tank printers, a key part of the company’s longer-term localization and sustainability vision. Located in Sriperumbudur near Chennai, the facility will be operated with partnership support from Rikun India Pvt. Ltd., and the manufacture of EcoTank printers is expected to begin in October 2025.
India has become a significant market for Epson; this facility is part of the company’s wider move to strengthen local manufacturing capability, reduce the reliance on imports, and improve supply chain resilience. According to Junkichi Yoshida, President and Chief Executive Officer of Seiko Epson, India is strategically important for the company and its commitment to localized innovation and customer-centricity.
Besides improving cost efficiencies, this shift will also help meet growing expectations for faster delivery, localized products, and improved after-sales service. Samba Moorthy, President of Epson India, also highlighted that the facility will eventually ramp up to 20,000 units a month and would employ approximately 200 people, supporting local job creation and the economy.
