According to the report of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, with an increase in production and productivity, the sugar industry in India has been showing a steady growth trend over the past few years. In the sugar season 2021-22, India produced around 36 million tonnes of sugar, which was higher than the previous year's production of around 31 million tonnes. The financial growth in the industry has been driven by favorable government policies which over the past few years, have proactively addressed the major issues confronting the sugar industry.
