9SEPTEMBER 2025PM MODI HIGHLIGHTS INDIA'S SEMICONDUCTOR SURGE AT SEMICON INDIA 2025APOLLO TYRES PLANTS WIN 5-STAR RATING FROM BRITISH SAFETY COUNCILOn the second day of SEMICON India 2025, Prime Minister Modi and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw made their way through the exhibition hall, and where better to highlight India's semiconductor strength.The Prime Minister was engaged in everything from developments of small startups to demonstration of global technology leaders to make it clear that India's semiconductor ecosystem is coming into its own.One of the biggest attractions was the Startup Mitra Pavilion, designed as part of IESA's Startup Mitra initiative Apollo Tyres announced today that its two manufacturing sites in Chennai and Limda (Gujarat) received a 5-star rating conformity to the British Safety Council after a thorough Occupational Health and Safety Audit.The Audit criteria included Leadership, Engagement of workers, Risk Perception Management, and Continuous improvement of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System. Apollo Tyres exceeded expectations developed to facilitate innovation and collaboration among those in India's ESDM (Electronics System Design and Manufacturing) ecosystem.Startups participating in the pavilion had considerable access to mentorship, policy development, patent assistance, and investor networks. In addition, the members of SEMI India and IESA supported these startups by providing components and testing equipment to illustrate the ecosystem was ready to help kickstart ventures.In terms of industry impact, the Prime Minister took the time to interact with innovators including people such as Vrinda Kapoor, Pratap Narayan Singh, Gautam Kumar Singh, Anantha Kinnal, and Jyothis Indirabhai. He also appeared to pay particular attention to a presentation given to him of a high-performance computing chip that asserts a 80% reduction in energy consumption, not surprising given his very strong focus on sustainability and energy-efficient semiconductor solutions.The Prime Minister also explored booths from major global and Indian players--LAM Research, Micron India, Tokyo Electron, KLA-Tencor, Tata Electronics, CG Semi, IBM, ASML, Kaynes Technologies, Applied Materials, Delta Electronics, and Disco Hi-Tec--as well as country pavilions representing Japan, Singapore, Korea, and Malaysia, highlighting India's increasingly pivotal role in the global semiconductor supply chain. in all four audit areas placing the plants in the global benchmarks for workplace health, safety, and wellbeing.Rajeev Kumar Sinha, Chief Manufacturing Officer, Apollo Tyres, said the achievement underscores the company's "unwavering commitment to a strong safety culture, where the well-being of people is at the core of everything we do."In the world of occupational health and safety management, the British Safety Council's 5-star rating, along with the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) accreditation is regarded as one of the highest levels of competence.
