Through this agreement, Welspun New Energy will pursue the development of two vital renewable power projects At the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) 2025, Sajjan Jindal announced in a major statement that JSW Group will dedicate Rs 16,000 crore to developing a 1,600 MW power project in Salboni, West Bengal. The planned investment will transform the region's power network and support India's extended power generation objectives. The chairperson of JSW indicated their intention to expand operation capacity twofold, which will require another massive investment.JSW Energy succeeded in obtaining a greenfield thermal power development order through WBSEDCL's competitive bid process aimed at developing the project in West Bengal. The company secured a Letter of Award to build a 1,600 MW (2x800 MW) super/ultra-supercritical domestic coal-based thermal power plant.The Salboni site has a cement grinding facility and ample land storage, which will include industrial development and Durgapur airport infrastructure through JSW's expansion plans for regional industrial growth.The Indian power production company JSW Energy holds 30 GW in locked-in generation capacity while its thermal power contribution reaches 9 GW. The company continues to outpace its 2030 generation capacity target of 20 GW because it is already nearing its milestone. totalling 3,200 MW to strengthen Odisha's clean energy infrastructure.These initiatives establish strong energy storage systems that ensure renewable power effectively merges with the power grid.
