The development comes as attacks in the region have slowed shipping traffic through two of the world's busiest energy routes.Even with growing risks, the vessel remains on course, underlining India's steady crude oil supply from Saudi Arabia. The tanker, identified as Amal II, is carrying nearly two million barrels of crude. It is expected to arrive at Sikka port in Gujarat on August 8. Another very large crude carrier, Nectar, is also sailing from Saudi Arabia to India. It is scheduled to reach Vadinar port on August 12. Rail projects remain at the centre of India's infrastructure strategy as the government fast-tracks critical developments to strengthen border connectivity. The centre plans a massive Rs 45,000 crore investment to upgrade strategic rail infrastructure along with China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.These rail projects will roll out over the next 18 to 24 months. This further aims to improve military logistics, enable faster troop deployment, and enhance access to remote areas. Officials have identified key stretches across northern and northeastern states for priority execution, reflecting a coordinated push to close infrastructure gaps and strengthen national security. E20 Fuel policy gains momentum in India as the government declares the ethanol-blended petrol safe, aiming to strengthen energy security amid global crude oil price volatility. The E20 fuel initiative targets a 20 per cent ethanol blending rate, increasing from the current blending level of around 12­13 per cent achieved in recent years.The government positions E20 fuel as a key strategy to reduce import dependence, considering India imports nearly 85 per cent of its crude oil requirements. However, E20 fuel expansion raises concerns around ethanol supply, food security, and vehicle compatibility, even as policymakers continue to push aggressive implementation timelines. LPG shipping strategy drives an operational shift as Indian Oil Corporation strengthens fuel access across remote islands through a vessel deployment plan. The company will ferry LPG cylinders from Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair) to smaller islands. This focuses on ensuring consistent supply in areas that face logistical challenges.This move supports Indian Oil LPG expansion and addresses gaps in island fuel supply logistics. The initiative improves LPG cylinder distribution efficiency and reduces delays caused by irregular shipping schedules.
