9NOVEMBER 2025SHREE CEMENT BOOSTS CLEAN ENERGY WITH 20 MWP SOLAR PROJECT IN UPHARMAN INVESTS 345 CR TO EXPAND PUNE AUTO FACILITYShree Cement Ltd has launched a 20 MWp solar power plant in Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot district, a further strong step in their purpose around renewable energy. The project not only demonstrates the company's commitment to renewable power but also boosts operational resilience and supports India's energy transition.The new facility delivers renewable energy to Shree Cement's Etah grinding unit via the Wheeling and Banking HARMAN a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and a global leader in connected automotive technologies, announced a new 345 crore (USD 42 million) investment to expand its automotive electronics manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune.The plan consists of an immediate investment of 45 crore and an additional 300 crore over the next three years for enhanced production of advanced telematics and connected vehicle programs.mechanism. The plant's Phase 1 has started commercial operations after being validated by the Uttar Pradesh State Load Dispatch Centre (UPSLDC), whereas Phase 2 is expected to start operations no later than the end of Q4 FY2025-26.Neeraj Akhoury, Managing Director, Shree Cement, said, "More than just a source of clean energy, the Chitrakoot plant showcases Shree Cement's leadership in transforming energy use across our operations. Each new plant is an opportunity to innovate, integrate renewable energy, and lead the cement sector toward a sustainable, low-carbon future, creating lasting value for both the business and the environment."In addition to contributing to green energy, the project will create 30 - 40 jobs each day for the local community. When it is fully operational, the solar plant will prevent the emission of approximately 22,000 metric tonnes of CO2 each year.Following this addition, Shree Cement's total installed capacity of solar in India is now 313.5 MWp and shows the company's leadership in adopting renewable energy in the cement industry. Each of these efforts continues to support Shree Cement in cutting emissions and improving energy efficiency across its operations in India. With this extension, HARMAN's total investment in the Pune plant will be 554 crore (USD 67 million) since the plant was set up in 2014. The project will upgrade the facilities with 71,500 sq. ft. of built-up area comprising a new 45,000 sq. ft. production area and four advanced SMT lines, increasing total capacity by 50 percent and leading to 300 new jobs by 2027.Christian Sobottka, President and CEO of HARMAN Automotive, said the investment is a clear sign of HARMAN's dedication to India's influence in the future of connected mobility through revolutionary 5G telematics, infotainment, and eco-friendly manufacturing innovations.The revamped facility will locally produce HARMAN Ready Connect, a next-generation telematics solution developed by the company's India R&D team.
