SEPTEMBER 20258SMPK, JSW INFRA SIGN 740 CR PORT PROJECT CONCESSION DEALTATA MOTORS CROSSES 25,000 EV CHARGING STATIONS MILESTONESyama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK), has entered into a 30-year concession agreement with JSW Infrastructure Ltd to carry out a 740-crore infrastructure development project that includes increasing container cargo handling capacity at the Kolkata Dock System.As per the agreements, the works include the rebuilding of Berth 8 and the installation of rail-mounted quay cranes (RMQCs) at Berths 7 and 8 of Netaji Subhas Dock. Besides these solutions, the development of a 25-acre Tata Motors has declared today that it has achieved a landmark with the availability of more than 25,000 public EV charging stations for its electric small commercial vehicles (SCV) customers across the nation. Expanding across 150 cities, including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad, this expansion is designed to improve range TOP STORIESconfidence and provide efficiency to last mile delivery operators.In addition to this commitment, to further hasten the ecosystem, Tata Motors signed MoUs with 13 top Charging Point Operators (CPOs) to set up an additional 25,000 public chargers in the next 12 months. All existing and upcoming stations will be connected with its connected vehicle platform, Fleet Edge so that customers can find and navigate to chargers in real-time.Pinaki Haldar, the Vice President and Business Head of the SCVPU at Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, stated that this significant milestone symbolizes the company's commitment towards advancement of electric cargo mobility. He stated, there are already over 10,000 Tata Ace EV's running on road collectively covering more than 6 crore kilometres, and now the launched Ace Pro EV is becoming popular in urban and semi-urban markets.The Tata Motors currently electric SCV range consists of Ace Pro EV, Ace EV, and Ace EV 1000 for different payloads and applications. Additionally, with over 200 dedicated EV support centres across the country, Tata Motors is building an ecosystem for entrepreneurs and transporters to be profitable and sustainable, and not simply building vehicles. backup area is also planned to provide an efficient cargo operation. He said, "Such a project is our determination to keep up the port and trade infrastructure, more in conformity with Indian Government's vision of world-class ports."The ceremony was held among SMPK Deputy Chairman Samrat Rahi, senior officials from the Kolkata Dock System, and JSW Infrastructure representatives, including Director Devki Nandan.JSW Infrastructure, India's second-largest commercial port, is continuing to increase its presence across top maritime locations, and this collaboration is another silver lining in their strategy to tap into India's port-led growth.The project will enable the efficient use of operating capacities in a big way and inject economic activities in the eastern region of India.
