NOVEMBER 20268Telecom energy now shapes how profitably tower companies run their networks. Indus Towers has deployed 50,000 solar-powered telecom sites across India, backed by roughly 300 MW solar capacities. The expansion reflects a broader shift toward controlling electricity and diesel costs across thousands of scattered towers. CEO Prachur Sah calls the milestone a defining moment, and the company says it is the first passive infrastructure player to reach this scale. For Indus, solar no longer serves as a sustainability badge alone. It works as an operational tool that drives costs, resilience and uptime.Indus Towers now runs 50,000 solar-powered sites with approximately 300 MW of installed capacity. Those sites sit within a network of approximately 270,480 towers as of September 2026. The company accelerated its solar program in 2024 and aims to reach 100,000 solar-powered sites by FY29. Distributed installations suit a network that spans diverse terrain, because each tower generates power where it stands. Power equipment manufacturing could gain strategic importance as India's electricity demand rises with the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI), data centers and digital infrastructure. Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, highlighted the growing need for affordable, reliable and clean electricity while addressing a press conference during the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo (BRESE) 2026 in New Delhi. His remarks, made alongside India's re-election as president of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) for a third consecutive term, underline an emerging industrial requirement: strengthening the equipment and grid infrastructure needed to deliver clean power reliably. This could create opportunities for domestic manufacturers of transformers, switchgear, substations and other electrical systems. The expansion of AI infrastructure is expected to increase electricity requirements from data centers, cloud computing facilities and high-performance computing systems. This could open opportunities for India's power equipment manufacturing industry, particularly as the country expands renewable generation and transmission capacity. Zero-emission CV manufacturing could gain momentum as Tata Motors and Iveco Group bring together their commercial vehicle portfolios and alternative powertrain capabilities under a combined enterprise. The companies formally marked their combination on November 3, creating the world's fourth-largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, with annual sales of approximately 590,000 units and combined revenues of around 21 billion euros. Their technology portfolio spans conventional engines, natural gas, battery-electric and hydrogen-based solutions. While the combination does not include a newly announced electric or hydrogen vehicle manufacturing investment, its expanded engineering capabilities and international presence create opportunities to advance cleaner commercial vehicle technologies across markets. The combined enterprise brings together Tata Motors' commercial vehicle operations in India and Iveco Group's truck, bus and powertrain businesses across Europe and other markets. BHEL share price rallied 6 percent in Wednesday's intraday trade after the company secured major orders from Adani Power. The Adani power deal covers four projects with a combined capacity of 6,400 MW. The contracts are valued at approximately Rs 28,000 crore, excluding GST. At 09:52 AM, BHEL shares were trading 5.7 percent higher at Rs 422.20 on the BSE. This compared with a 0.56 percent gain in the BSE Sensex. Around 1.1 million shares changed hands across the NSE and BSE during the first 40 minutes of trade. The stock touched Rs 423.10 during the session. It had previously recorded an all-time high of Rs 463.60 on October 14, 2026. In an exchange filing on Wednesday, BHEL announced that it had received multiple orders from Adani Power for four projects of 2x800 MW each.
