SEPTEMBER, 20259TATA ELECTRONICS, MERCK JOIN FORCES TO BOOST INDIA'S CHIP DRIVEINFINEON, KAYNES PARTNER TO ADVANCE INDIAN SEMICONDUCTORSAn important step in India's goal to develop a strong semiconductor ecosystem has been taken with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tata Electronics Private Limited and Merck Electronics to enhance semiconductor capabilities in the nation. The collaboration will concentrate on advancing knowledge of semiconductor materials, fabrication facilities, and specialty gas and chemical distribution. In accordance with the agreement, Merck will provide Tata Electronics, with its global portfolio of high-purity materials, advanced gas and chemical delivery systems, fab infrastructure services and Material Intelligence solutions driven by AI.It will also offer its global expertise in safety and manufacturing excellence and collaboration will also be enabled through Merck's secure analytics platform called Athinia. Plans include localized warehousing, raw material supply chains, talent development, and creating industry-wide processes and standards in India.Dr. Randhir Thakur, CEO and MD of Tata Electronics, remarked that the cooperation complements the company's focus to build world class semiconductor manufacturing solutions from India with an emphasis on safety, quality and innovation. Dr. Kai Beckmann, Member of the Executive Board of Merck, and CEO Electronics, said that the agreement demonstrates Merck's commitment to India's semiconductor journey as well as its strategy of enabling growth markets - through precision and innovation. The India Semiconductor Mission's goals are supported by the MoU. on Dholera, Gujarat, Tata Electronics is investing 91,000 crore, or roughly US$11 billion, on India's first semiconductor fabrication facility. This factory will produce chips for use in mobile devices, automobiles, and artificial intelligence. The alliance intends to expedite the project's execution and aid in India's inclusion into the global semiconductor value chain by leveraging Merck's experience in semiconductor materials and sub-fab services. Infineon, a world leader in semiconductor solutions, and Kaynes Semicon Private Limited, a trailblazing Indian semiconductor manufacturer, have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to investigate potential strategic partnerships in India's rapidly expanding semiconductor market.Today marks a new milestone for our collaboration with the launch of the first Kaynes Semicon MEMs Microphone, utilizing Infineon's well-known and reliable, market proven bare die, with breakthrough domestic semiconductor module manufacturing capacity. This "Made in India" MEMs Microphone will target the first TWS earbuds in India, putting Kaynes Semicon on the pre-emptive map for the next generation of wearables.Furthermore, Kaynes Semicon will package Infineon's high-performance power solution bare die wafers into discrete and module semiconductor solutions specifically designed for Indian consumers.India's domestic reach and global supply chain position will be strengthened by the combination of Infineon's leadership and Kaynes Semicon's innovative semiconductor packaging skills. This partnership will guarantee a locally integrated, cost-optimized supply chain that offers clients dependable, high-performance, and energy-efficient products with noticeably shorter lead times. As the Indian Government emphasizes semiconductor self-reliance, this partnership ultimately brings India closer to boosting local fabrication and curbing imports. It builds a platform for innovation and deeper engagement in advanced semiconductor technologies, addressing India's next- generation electronics needs. TOP STORIESSEPTEMBER, 20259
