9AUGUST 2025ZF INITIATES LOCAL PRODUCTION OF ELECTRIC PARK BRAKES IN INDIARAILWAY MINISTER VISITS BHAVNAGAR CONTAINER UNITIndia's passenger vehicle segment has taken a decisive step forward in next-generation braking technology with ZF's commencement of Electric Park Brake (EPB) production in the country. Integrated into a newly launched all-electric vehicle from a leading Indian OEM, this marks the first ever SOP of ZF's EPB in an Indian passenger car -- a milestone in the nation's journey toward advanced e-mobility and safety.The EPB launch is part of ZFs India and the World Make in India strategy, which is its determination to support local Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited the Aawadkrupa Plastomech Pvt Ltd factory in Bhavnagar's district of Gujarat, which is located on the BhavnagarRajkot Road, along with Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State Nimuben Bambhaniya, which is now beginning to play a major role within the container manufacturing and production landscape in India.Vaishnaw viewed the manufacturing process and the technology used to manufacture shipping containers and manufacturing of automotive solutions that are benchmarked around the globe. The EPB is configured to deliver class-leading low drag and NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) levels, to boost vehicle efficiency and to permit the transition by India to electrification. It enables advanced safety features, including two wheel anti-lock emergency stops, and integrates seamlessly into the brake system with dynamic actuation and brake pad wear sensing.Scalable across passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, and light trucks, ZF's EPB offers Indian OEMs flexibility in vehicle design while improving reliability over traditional mechanical systems.Speaking on the development, Akash Passey, President ZF Group in India, said: "The SOP of ZF's first Electric Park Brake in India, on a product like the all-new EV car platform, embodies ZF's commitment to offer leading mobility solutions for local requirements. The operation is producing approximately 15 containers daily depending on orders but is capable of increasing production to 100 containers per day with improvements to the facilities now made.Vaishnaw had with him Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State for State Nimuben Bambhaniya, District Collector Dr. Manish Kumar Bansal, District Development Officer Hanul Chaudhary, and company representative Hasmukhbhai Patel, during a visit that illustrated government support for Bhavnagar's industrial growth and its role in addressing global demand for containers.
