9OCTOBER 2026Chennai-based auto component maker JM Frictech India Pvt Ltd (JMI) is targeting Rs 1,000 crore in revenue over the next two to three years. The company expects rising hydrostatic demand and growing orders for wet clutch components to drive this growth in India and overseas markets.JMI aims to generate Rs 350 crore of its targeted revenue from exports. It is banking on demand for hydrostatic transmission systems in European markets, where manufacturers are increasingly looking at smaller tractors for agricultural use. Founded in 2008 as a joint venture between India's NTC Engineering and South Korea's Jinmyung Frictech Co. Ltd. (JMFT), JMI manufactures wet friction systems and hydraulic actuation components for tractor and construction equipment makers. The company expects to generate Rs 650 crore in revenue in FY27. It supplies brakes, clutches, and gears to major manufacturers, including Escorts Kubota, Mahindra Tractors, CNH, Caterpillar, and JCB. Solar wafer manufacturing in India is gaining importance as the country seeks to strengthen domestic production and reduce reliance on imported solar components. Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) plans to continue its Rs 28,000 crore investment program through FY2028. Although the broader investment plan centers around renewable energy expansion, its manufacturing implications matter the most as India tries to build capabilities further up the supply chain.Tata Power has already established an integrated solar cell and module manufacturing business and is pursuing a separate investment in solar ingot and wafer production. These upstream components are essential for manufacturing photovoltaic cells, making them strategically important to India's domestic solar industry. Stellantis localization in India is set to become a key focus of the automaker's manufacturing strategy as the company commits Rs 4,000 crore to expand its operations. Announced under its FaSTLAne 2030 roadmap, the investment is intended to support new vehicle launches, deepen local sourcing and strengthen India's role in the company's global operations. For Indian automotive component manufacturers, the proposed expansion presents a potential opportunity to participate in a broader production and sourcing network. The scale of the opportunity will depend on the components required, supplier qualification and whether local sourcing pays off.The company aims to increase localization levels across its Jeep and Citroen portfolios to approximately 90 percent, subject to commercial and technical feasibility. Stellantis India CEO and Managing Director Shailesh Hazela said the additional investment would support the 12-product roadmap and efforts to bring localization levels closer to the target. Antony Waste Handling Cell targets December 2026 to resume operations at its Pimpri-Chinchwad facility in Maharashtra. The 14-megawatt (MW) plant has remained affected by structural damage following a monsoon-related incident in July, disrupting its electricity generation and waste-processing operations. The company said original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are working with its project and operations teams to inspect, repair and recommission the affected equipment and systems. The restoration effort highlights the importance of industrial equipment reliability, site safety and coordinated engineering work in facilities that combine municipal waste management with electricity production.Antony Lara Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of Antony Waste Handling Cell, operates the facility for the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). On July 8, 2026, heavy monsoon rainfall caused waste from an adjacent legacy landfill to collapse onto the plant site, severely damaging structures. The incident resulted in nine fatalities, according to the company.
