4MARCH, 2025Lubricants for a Stronger Tomorrow The industrial lubricants and oils market of India is steadily growing due to the increase in industrial activity, infrastructure development and demand for efficient machinery maintenance. Increased emphasis on manufacturing, construction and automation has driven up the need for quality lubricants that aid machinery performance and life. The 'Make in India' initiative by the government has enabled domestic production, which has enabled manufacturing and heavy industries which need lubricants to run smoothly. Also, the rapid urbanization, infrastructure projects like highways, metro systems, smart cities, etc. are fueling the need for construction equipment which in turn is increasing the requirement of lubricants. Industrial lubricants are still a significant consumer of the automotive sector due to the increasing number of vehicles on the road that need to be maintained and lubricated. EVs also play a role in the market shift toward Electric Vehicles, and new formulations are being developed for battery cooling and drivetrain lubrication. The push for sustainable and high performance lubricants is another major trend. To meet the increasing demand of industries for better efficiency, longer service life and lower environmental impact, bio based and synthetic lubricants are being adopted by industries. Today, companies invest in research and development in order to develop new advanced lubrication solutions for the modern industrial requirements. The industry is also expanding because of the petrochemical sector as the raw materials for lubricant production. Refining capacity and base oil production investments are ensuring the continuous supply of high quality lubricants for all industrial uses.
