9JUNE 2026India is on track to achieve a major clean energy milestone, with 300 GW Non-Fossil Capacity expected to be reached by the end of the current quarter, according to Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi. The 300 GW Non-Fossil Capacity target reflects the country's rapid progress in renewable energy and its broader efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.Speaking at the workshop on Strengthening the National Green Hydrogen Mission through State Policies, Hubs and Infrastructure in New Delhi, Joshi said India has emerged as one of the fastest-growing clean energy markets in the world under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The minister highlighted the country's achievements in renewable energy deployment and emphasized that India is steadily moving toward its long-term target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based power capacity by 2030. India's semiconductor ambitions are gaining momentum, with the government expecting four semiconductor plants to become operational by December. As global companies look to diversify their supply chains beyond traditional manufacturing hubs, a key question is emerging: Can India become the world's next chip alternative? The battery ecosystem in India could soon get a major boost as the government prepares a new incentive scheme worth around Rs 12,000 crore to support local manufacturing of battery components. The move is aimed at strengthening the country's battery ecosystem, reducing import dependence, and building a more complete supply chain for electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage systems.According to reports, the proposed scheme will focus on critical battery components that are currently imported in large quantities. While India has already introduced incentives for battery cell production, policymakers now want to address gaps in the broader supply chain that continue to limit domestic value addition. Jeh Aerospace has secured a major global manufacturing deal in Hyderabad after partnering with France-based Solestra Group to establish a global manufacturing centre. The Jeh Aerospace global manufacturing deal marks another milestone for India's growing aerospace sector and strengthens Hyderabad's position as a key aerospace manufacturing hub.The partnership will see aerospace components and assemblies produced in India for international aerospace programs, further integrating the country into the global aerospace supply chain. The Jeh Aerospace global manufacturing deal comes at a time when global aerospace companies are looking to diversify supply chains and expand manufacturing capabilities in emerging markets. The question of whether India can become the world's next chip alternative has gained importance as countries and companies seek to reduce supply chain risks and expand manufacturing bases outside established semiconductor centers. Speaking at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Annual Business Summit 2025, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said India will have four operational semiconductor plants by the end of the year, marking a major step in the country's semiconductor manufacturing journey. India's rural broadband rollout is gaining momentum as telecom equipment maker HFCL has secured a fresh order worth Rs 266.63 crore from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) for the BharatNet project. The new contract strengthens HFCL's position in one of the country's largest digital connectivity programs aimed at expanding high-speed internet access across rural areas. With the latest win, the rural broadband rollout continues to create business opportunities for telecom infrastructure companies involved in the BharatNet Phase III expansion. The order involves the supply of telecom networking equipment for BharatNet, a flagship government initiative designed to connect villages with reliable broadband services.
