The system facilitates direct-SJVN has made significant progress today with the commencement of commercial operations for Unit-1 of the Buxar Thermal Power Project, a 660 MW unit that is now fully open for commercial operation.This accomplishment places the project on a very promising path in the company's endeavor toward the construction of additional power generation capacity for the nation. The Buxar Thermal Power Project is 1320 MW (2x660 MW) in capacity and is being built by SJVN Thermal Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, in Chausa, Buxar district.The project uses supercritical technology to provide greater efficiency, while reducing emissions compared with conventional coal-fired units. With Unit-1 commencing commercial operations, the project will produce 9,828.72 million units of electricity each year with both units being available for operation.The energy boost will be significant for Bihar. Under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement, the state has secured 85% of the project's output. This allocation is expected to ease peak-hour shortages and improve supply stability across the eastern region. For an area that has long required stronger power infrastructure, the Buxar Thermal Power Project provides both immediate relief and long-term support for industrial and residential demand.With today's COD milestone, SJVN reinforces its position in India's thermal power landscape and demonstrates steady progress toward meeting rising national demand. As the second unit advances toward completion, the project stands as one of the most important power sector developments for the region this year.
