9DECEMBER 2025AHMEDABAD'S 16-FLOOR RAIL STATION SET TO REDEFINE URBAN TRAVELTATA AUTOCOMP BOOSTS EUROPE PRESENCE WITH IAC SWEDEN ACQUISITIONAhmedabad's upcoming 16floor railway station is set to transform how India travels, marking a major step in modern mobility. The project, which is set to be completed by July 2027, is being constructed as a complete multimodal hub that will incorporate bullet trains, metro connectivity, conventional rail and buses services into one single area. The new complex will anchor the MumbaiAhmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor, which is the first Japanese-supported bullet train route in India.Tata AutoComp has officially completed its takeover of the assets of International Automotive Components Group Sweden AB, a major European supplier of premium interior and exterior automotive systems. Now rebranded as Artifex Systems, the acquired unit brings an annual turnover of about $800 million and expands Tata AutoComp's footprint in a key global market. The company said the move strengthens its presence in Europe and deepens ties with leading OEMs across both passenger and commercial vehicle segments. The station elevates on the Western Railway platform 10, 11, and 12 thus providing the passenger with direct access to Kalupur Metro Station to facilitate easy and fast transfers. This is the place where the first Shinkansen-style bullet-train will run, reaching the speed of 320km/h using the E5 Series technology in Japan, and reducing dramatically the time between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. The building is a tribute to the spirit of the city, architecturally. Its ceiling is reminiscent of the sky of Ahmedabad with kites in Uttarayan and the front is reminiscent of the splendid Jaali of Sidi Saiyyed. The modern engineering combined with the traditional design is meant to make a bold architectural masterpiece in the city center. The new 16-floor complex will be in the form of an entire urban center, unlike the old railway stations. It will be equipped with an exclusive bullet train station, metro, long distance and local trains, and enhanced bus services. Indoors, the commuters will have offices, retail areas, malls, lounges, and better waiting areas with enhanced parking and enhanced last-mile connections. The hub is expected to work with much bigger volumes of passengers in the future. As the surrounding neighborhoods are being redeveloped and easier ways of getting there are being built, the project is set to increase the local business, attract more tourists and make Ahmedabad a major travel hub in the region. "We are delighted to welcome IAC Sweden, now Artifex Systems, into the Tata AutoComp family. This aligns with our long-term vision of strengthening our global presence and deepening our relationships with European OEMs," said Arvind Goel, Vice-Chairman, Tata AutoComp Systems. For the Indian auto component major, the acquisition marks a major step in its strategy to build a stronger global network. By integrating IAC Sweden's advanced manufacturing, precision painting and assembly capabilities, Tata AutoComp aims to enhance its own design and engineering strengths and offer more comprehensive system-level solutions to global customers. From the newly acquired entity's side, Anders Ericson, vice-president operations, Artifex Systems, said becoming part of Tata AutoComp "opens new opportunities for growth and collaboration" and will help broaden capabilities and market reach. The development has also earned strong diplomatic backing. Anurag Bhushan, India's ambassador to Sweden, said the acquisition highlights the rising scope for deeper industrial cooperation between the two countries. Swedish ambassador to India, Jan Thesleff, added that Tata AutoComp's entry ensures customer continuity, protects jobs and strengthens Sweden's manufacturing ecosystem.
